If you’re Brazilian and planning a motorhome trip through Spain, you’ve probably already asked yourself the most common question: “Can I rent a motorhome in Madrid with my Brazilian driving licence?” The short answer is yes. But there are important details —documents, deposit, minimum age, credit card and return rules— that make the difference between a smooth trip and a headache when picking up the vehicle.

In this guide, the team at Autocaravanas Camperdadi, a motorhome rental company in Madrid, explains step by step how the process works for Brazilian travellers, how much it costs, which routes make the most sense departing from Madrid, and how to book with confidence.

1. Can I rent a motorhome in Madrid with a Brazilian driving licence?

Yes. Brazil is a signatory to the Vienna Convention, and the Brazilian driving licence (CNH) is accepted in Spain for tourists. However, to drive on Spanish territory you need to present:

  • Valid Brazilian CNH (within its expiry date);

  • International Driving Permit (IDP), issued in Brazil before the trip;

  • Valid passport;

  • Be at least 24 or 25 years old (varies by model);

  • Hold a licence with at least 2 years of driving experience;

  • Credit card in the driver’s name for the deposit.

    One point that raises many questions: the 6-month rule. Brazilian tourists can drive with a Brazilian CNH + IDP for a maximum of 6 months from their entry into Spain. For longer stays, the document must be exchanged. For holiday trips (7, 14 or 21 days), this is not an issue.

    2. Documents required to rent with Camperdadi

    Before picking up the vehicle in Madrid, you will need to present:

    • Valid passport or ID card;

    • Valid Brazilian CNH;

    • International Driving Permit (IDP);

    • International credit card (Visa or Mastercard) in the driver’s name;

    • Camperdadi booking confirmation.

      The deposit usually ranges between €600 and €1,200, depending on the model chosen. It is blocked on the credit card and refunded after the vehicle is returned, provided everything is in order (tanks empty, basic cleaning done, no damage and fuel at the agreed level).

      3. How much does it cost to rent a motorhome in Madrid?

      Prices vary depending on the season, the model and the rental duration:

      • Low season: from €70–90 per night for compact models;

      • High season (July and August): average between €250 and €300 per night;

      • Family or premium models: above-average rates;

      • Minimum rental: 3 to 7 days, depending on the season.

        In addition to the rental, include in your budget:

        • Campsites in Spain: on average €60 per night for a family of three in high season;

        • Fuel (diesel): around €1.50 per litre;

        • Tolls: vary depending on the route chosen.

          For trips of 7 days or more, with two or more people, the motorhome usually works out cheaper than the hotel + train combination, especially because it replaces accommodation, transport and part of the meals.

          4. How to book your motorhome from Brazil

          The process is simple and can be done entirely remotely:

          1. Choose the model on the Camperdadi website, according to the number of people and the type of trip;

          2. Confirm the dates for pick-up and return in Madrid;

          3. Request a quote by email, phone or WhatsApp;

          4. Make the booking with the deposit payment;

          5. Receive confirmation and pick-up instructions in Madrid (Barajas airport or Atocha station).

            5. Most popular routes for Brazilians departing from Madrid

            Madrid is a strategic starting point for anyone wanting to explore southern Spain. Some of the favourite routes among our Brazilian clients:

            • 7 days: Madrid → Toledo → Córdoba → Seville → back to Madrid;

            • 14 days: Madrid → Toledo → Córdoba → Seville → Granada → Valencia → Barcelona → Madrid;

            • Cultural route: Madrid → Segovia → Salamanca → Santiago de Compostela;

            • Beach route: Madrid → Valencia → Alicante → Málaga → Cádiz.

              On all of them, we recommend combining campsites and authorised overnight areas. In Spain, sleeping inside a properly parked motorhome is legal, but camping (putting out the awning, tables and chairs) outside campsites can lead to fines. We explain all the DGT rules for 2026 when you pick up the vehicle.
